On March 2nd, 2024, you have a date in Ceuta, as the city once again hosts one of its most important sporting events: the 8th Civic-Military Race "Cradle of the Legion". A highly anticipated event for locals, but also for athletes from all over Spain who will come to participate. This eighth edition is expected to have 5,500 participants.

This is a great opportunity to discover Ceuta and enjoy its gastronomy, unique landmarks, museums...

During the race, participants will run through various landmarks in our city: from the Royal Walls to Monte Hacho, passing by the Fortress, the San Antonio viewpoint, Gran Vía, Paseo del Revellín, and even the Mediterranean Maritime Park. This way, they’ll discover the city known as the ‘Pearl of the Mediterranean’ firsthand. The official route for this edition, which includes some new features compared to the previous one, will be announced soon.

Participating in this race is also a great opportunity to discover the city, full of cultural and historical sites in one of the two Spanish cities in North Africa.

Staying in the military theme of the event, several museums stand out. It’s worth noting that Ceuta, due to its geographical location, has historically been a strategic military point, visited by many armies. There are several military museums in Ceuta, including the Legion and Regulares Museums, as well as the Historical Military Museum.

If you want to travel back in time, the Late Roman Basilica, the Arab Baths, or the Califal Gate archaeological site will let you explore how life was in ancient times. All of these offer free guided tours organized by the city.

Art lovers will enjoy visiting the Royal Walls Museum and the Revellín Museum, both open on weekends and free of charge.
